The fallen deputy, Micah Flick, 34, is survived by his wife and 7-year-old twins.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Chief Peter Carey, the incident began around 4 p.m. MT Monday near Galley Road and Murray Boulevard in the eastern part of the city as a motor vehicle theft investigation and turned into a chase with shots being fired, injuring one bystander.
Carey said the only suspect was killed.
Flick became the third officer to be gunned down in the line of duty in the state in the past five weeks.
The injured officers’ names and conditions were not immediately released. Officials said two are deputies with the sheriff’s office and the third is an officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department.
